Christmas in NYC

Once again I am on my way to NYC.  This is my 8th and last trip of the year. Obsessed !  My friends and family certainly think so.   I don't even bother telling them about it anymore.  Anyway, all they will say is :  Again ! What is so great about that city?  Why not go elsewhere?  Save your money, go to Florida !

So I try to convert them but inviting them along and I am always amazed at their reaction.  

Most start off really excited and full of plans.  Then, once the obligatory first time stuff is done:  Time Square, Statue of Liberty etc. and I suggest my "cool, real NYC" things to do, the shine goes out of their eyes and a look of total boredom and sometimes terror sets in. 

Why, oh why do they all want to hang out around Time Square?  I will not do it anymore.  Next time, I'll take the subway with them (after convincing them that yes, it's safe) but once we get to the 42nd street  station they are on their own.  I, on the other hand will continue up to Harlem or visit the Whitney and wait it out. 

I guess I keep on inviting my friends because I hope one of them will some day say, “Wow I get it.!” But so far I seem to be the only one and I am running out of friends to invite. 

NYC, where else would I want to be!
